Unit 3. Sunday's Forecast
Practice note: Grammar examples and role-play details may be hypothetical. Questions explicitly about the article use the reported facts. This is a historical report, not current travel advice.
Words from the text: still, clear, schedule, forecast, storm, flight, cancelation, delay, airport, passenger, weather, waiver
A We use will + the base form of the verb to talk about the future. The form is the same for every person: I, you, he, she, it, we, they. The short form is 'll. The negative is won't (will not).
| Form / word | Example / meaning |
| I / you / he / she / it / we / they | will go / 'll go |
| negative | won't go |
| question | Will ... go? |
The storm will hit Boston on Sunday.
Delta will cancel many flights at the airport.
There won't be many cancelations on Monday.
Will не меняется по лицам. Используем 'will + глагол' для будущего. Отрицание – won't, вопрос – Will + подлежащее + глагол?
B We use will to make a prediction about the future. We often say this because of the situation now, for example bad weather. This is not a 100% fact, but we think it is true.
Delta says it will cancel many flights at Boston Logan on Sunday.
The storm is still here, so Sunday's forecast is not clear.
Passengers will have problems at the airport tomorrow.
Will используем, чтобы предсказать будущее, опираясь на ситуацию сейчас (например, плохая погода сегодня → завтра отменят рейсы).
C To make the negative, use won't + verb. To make a question, put will before the subject: Will + subject + verb?
Weather won't be clear on Sunday.
Will passengers get a waiver this week?
The schedule won't change today.
Won't = will not. В вопросе will ставим перед подлежащим.
